SIAN KA'AN TULUM DESTINATION WEDDING

NICOLLE & DIEGO

This was their plan C, or was it D? Maybe F? Actually, I lost track. When Nicolle and Diego first reached out to me they had already cancelled a couple of their wedding plans and opted to get married in Peru... only to discover that once again, they had to change their plans to get married somewhere else because of new Covid restrictions, and therefore had to reduce their guest list significantly. Luckily, I was available for their new wedding date (which was even closer than their original date!!), and their new destination was Tulum, which had long been on my bucket list. On top of that, they hired my husband, Adrian, to be their videographer!

They rented a magical, magazine-worthy villa in the middle of the Sian Ka’an reserve in Tulum with a very exclusive access to a virgin beach. As soon as we got there it started raining. It was a tropical, soft rain that instantly transformed the mood into a cozy, free-spirited and wild atmosphere. The raindrops were small but present. We were all shoeless and moving indoors/outdoors throughout the day, bringing the rain into the house and the house into the rain. What made it so magical was that they were so incredibly cool about it. They were just so happy that they were finally getting married and nothing was going to ruin that for them. Their shaman did some spiritual rituals to clear the rain, and after the first part of their “indoor” ceremony ended we all went to the beach to continue the second part of their ceremony and witnessed the most beautiful colors as the sky started to clear up.

From the getting-ready moments to the last minutes of the party, Adrian and I felt part of their intimate group of family and friends, so much so, that we feel we have captured their day from the point of view of their loved ones.
